SAN BRUNO (KRON) -- Fire officials confirm the death of a two-year-old following a house fire in San Bruno Friday morning. Officials also say two people, the grandparents of the child, were transported to nearby hospitals to be treated for their injuries.
The two-alarm fire in the 100 block of Lake Drive was reported at
8:45 a.m. and extinguished just before 9 a.m., according to San Mateo County
Three people were taken away by ambulance, including a child and two
adults. The child later succumbed to their injuries and according to Seton Medical Center the Grandmother, Lila Prasad, is in critical and unstable condition with second degree burns. The condition of the Grandfather, Gomta Prasad, is still unknown.
The residents of the house are a couple in their 60s and longtime
residents of the Lake Drive cul de sac, said a neighbor, who gave her name only as Meg.
Smoke was visible before fire trucks arrived on the scene, and
three construction workers in a neighboring building helped people get out of
the house, Meg said.
"There were three young men who went inside the house," she said. "I think that really made a significant difference."
Fire officials were not immediately available to provide more
information about the fire.
