A truck driver is dead after driving off of state Highway 37 in Vallejo this morning, resulting in a fiery crash that snarled traffic in the area, according to the California Highway Patrol. The crash was reported at 6:42 a.m. when the truck apparently went off of Highway 37 west of state Highway 29, fell to a grassy area below and caught fire. The CHP responded by shutting down westbound Highway 37, the connector ramps from nearby Interstate Highway 80 to Highway 37, and the connector from southbound Highway 29 to westbound Highway 37. CHP Sgt. Diana McDermott said it appears a second vehicle was involved in the accident, a pickup truck that was found on westbound Highway 37 after the other truck went off the roadway. The driver of the big rig remains unidentified and was pronounced dead at Kaiser Vallejo.
