SONOMA (BCN) -- Sonoma County Sheriffs say a dead 31-year-old Sonoma County man who was found in the trunk of a parked car at Sonoma State University on Monday was murdered.. Lt. Dennis O'Leary would not identify the victim, but said he was a suspect in a domestic disturbance that occurred Friday in Santa Rosa. The female victim of the domestic disturbance is not a suspect in the man's murder, O'Leary said. After the disturbance, Santa Rosa police had issued a "be on the lookout" alert for the man and a gold sedan associated with him, O'Leary said. According to the Santa Rosa police log, a "be on the lookout" bulletin was issued at 2:40 p.m. Friday in relation to an incident at Fourth and D streets. Sheriff's deputies found the gold sedan parked in a no-parking zone on Petaluma Hill Road north of East Cotati Avenue around 6:30 p.m. Monday, O'Leary said. Deputies checked the license plate and learned that the vehicle was associated with the suspect in the Santa Rosa domestic disturbance, O'Leary said. Deputies saw blood on one of the car's seats, then found the body wrapped in a blanket inside the unlocked trunk. The gold sedan belongs to the murder victim's family, O'Leary said. The victim has a criminal history in Sonoma County, and some of the people he is associated with are involved in gangs, O'Leary said. Neither the murder victim nor the female domestic disturbance victim attends Sonoma State University, O'Leary said. "Investigators are going in about 15 different directions today," O'Leary said.
